The Route
The journey will start in California driving to the most northern point in the Americas -Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, through the west coast, down to the most southern point in the world -Ushuaia, Argentina. Then travel back north, through the east coast, to Brazil, crossing the jungle north-east to Venezuela.
Why ‘Las Americas’?
Across the globe people are asking the same questions: Who am I? and where do I belong? Do I have a responsibility to the earth and its people? In an effort to answer these questions, we looked within our own great continent and asked the following: what makes someone an American? Is it the land? Is it the language? Is it the soul of a nation? Then it dawned on us, America is much more than just the great United States. There are three divisions that make up this land, three sides with three different turbulent and beautiful histories. There is the North, the home of the brave, new world settlers and Native Indians that welcomed Europeans to their land. South America, where Drake and Cortez paved the way for settlers and learned from ancient civilizations. Finally, Central America home to the Mesoamerican civilization.
Just as we will be discovering new people, cultures and their folklore, the viewer will also grow with our hosts and crew as they try to survive the long journey ahead.
The American continents have spectacular beauty, fascinating folklore and an incredible spectrum of different people. Expedition: Las Americas lets you in on all of it.
